Gloria Ha 2 months agoI was craving pastries and Un je ne sais quois definitely hit the spot! The ham and cheese croissant ($9) was expensive but decadent. We got it heated up, and it wasn't completely warmed at the center, but it had a lot of ham and was so flaky and buttery. Would definitely get again. I also really liked the madeleine, which had a good balance of crisp edges and buttery sweet softness. I'd get it again. We didn't like the chocolate croissant as much -- it was a lot less flaky than the ham and cheese. The iced chai latte was quite good and milky. Overall I had a great experience here and would come back!
Farima Hooshmand 5 months agoBest pastry in DC, truly high quality, honestly comparable to really good pastries in Paris. They have great variety, including seasonal options, and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. The staff are friendly as well. Just keep in mind that seating is very limited, so you might not always find a spot to sit, which can affect the experience if you’re hoping to stay. The pastries are also on the pricier side, but the quality and taste make this a place I keep coming back to.
Eric Feazel 5 months agoHaving just returned from a trip to Paris, I was craving pastries similar to what I enjoyed there and decided to finally try Un je ne sais Quoi… after hearing so many great things. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t fully match the hype, though I’ll admit my expectations may have been influenced by my recent travels. I ordered a canneles, a pain au chocolat, and a pear tart. The pear tart was excellent, no complaints at all. The pain au chocolat, however, left a bit to be desired, as it wasn’t as flaky as I would expect and lacked a few pieces of chocolate. The biggest disappointment was the canneles. It didn’t seem fresh and had hardened to the point of being nearly inedible. It also lacked the signature custardy interior and the classic rum and vanilla flavor that define a good canneles. Before leaving this review, I called the shop and spoke with a manager to share my feedback. They were incredibly receptive, transparent about the challenges of running a small business, and clearly committed to producing high-quality pastries, even acknowledging that sometimes things may miss the mark. That conversation really stood out and showed they genuinely care about their customers. Because of that experience, I’m more than willing to give them another try in the future. While this visit wasn’t perfect, the customer service and willingness to listen to my feedback made a strong impression. Sometimes customer service matters more than anything and they proved that today.
Thao Dinh 6 months agoThis bakery mainly focuses on hot baked goods and bread. There are around 6–10 chilled desserts, but the selection is still fairly limited compared to the bread options. The shop is small, with about 20 seats and 5 small tables, plus one long communal table by the window. The French-style bread is decent, good flavor and quality but not particularly memorable. The coffee is average — drinkable, but not especially good or well-crafted. Overall, it’s a convenient spot to stop by for bread or a short break, rather than a place for high-quality coffee or a wide variety of desserts. Ì you just have one day in W I think you should try Tatte where more plenty choice, nice place really near Un…
