A fully themed pirate coffee shop in a relatively calm alley. The array of specialty flavors is great (year round PSL!), with fun piratey names. The syrups are VERY sweet, which works well in the heat but if you’re not into that much sweetness you might want to ask for it to be toned down. Most of the indoor space is devoted to t-shirt sales (and oddly a bedroom), but there is outdoor seating.

I really loved the rich flavors of the pirate king iced coffee. They have a selection of flavors with interesting names. Each name/option had several flavors in one that created the unique drink.

Tucked into a quiet pedestrian alley off Conti Street, Pirate King Coffee is a caffeine-fueled fever dream of pirate memorabilia, buttery espresso, and civic charm. You walk in expecting kitsch and walk out with a bag of beans and a new favorite flat white. Drink this: Brown sugar cinnamon flat white or the Cortado with butter pecan—both taste like New Orleans gave you a hug and a high-five. Chicory Café au Lait if you want to go full Louisiana. Buy this: Their house-roasted beans (especially the chicory blend) are worth hauling home. Veteran-owned, so your purchase supports more than just your morning buzz. Touch this: Pirate hats, skulls, treasure chests, and trinkets galore. The merch wall is half souvenir shop, half pirate cosplay starter kit. Peek at this: The Captain’s Quarters in the back, a bedroom setup that’s part museum, part mood board for your next Airbnb. No, you can’t sleep there. Yes, you’ll want to. Staff are warm, witty, and happy to explain the difference between a Scallywag and a Shaken Cappuccino. Sit inside or grab a table in the breezy alley and pretend you’re plotting your next voyage, or your next fast food concept. Arrr-right, this one’s a gem. Go.

Very friendly staff and quick service. Like most places in New Orleans, it can get busy on weekends, but they do a great job of keeping things moving while still making quality drinks. The coffee was very good overall, though a bit on the sweet side. If you prefer less sweetness, I’d recommend asking them to go lighter on the syrups. They also have a cute gift shop, especially if you enjoy pirate-themed items. I recommend the mocha or a hazelnut latte, just reduce the syrup and you’ll be golden.

The best coffee in the French Quarter, possibly the city! I threw out my hotel coffee and only came here for the rest of our trip. It’s centrally located, open earlier and later than every other coffee spot in the quarter. Plus it has a pirate shop and mini museum dedicated to the pirate Jean Lafitte. The vibes are chill and badass. The baristas are always nice and are eager to educate guests about coffee if they have the time. Sam does awesome latte art too! The secret might be out though, it can get pretty busy on the weekends especially, but it’s worth the wait!
