I love this place! The aesthetics of this are out of the world, such a homely and cottagey vibe. Three levels filled with books of all genres! :) they even have a cute little cafe in the basement if you want to have a relaxing afternoon tea in the heart of Boston! Would 100% visit again and highly recommend to all book lovers. There are even plush lounge chairs strategically placed at different parts of the bookshop should you want to read/just rest your legs from all the walking at beacon hill street!

Such a cute little upscale cafe through the "hobbit" door and downstairs from the most adorable bookstore. We had brunch and ordered iced lattes with our half sandwich and half salad. Our server, Natalie, was so pleasant and helpful too. If you're visiting Boston, definitely put this on your list. I would recommend reservations because this place seems to be very popular.

This place is literally somebody’s dream come true, the guy at the desk even told me it started as one woman’s vision, and you can feel that everywhere. Charming, quirky, and packed with magical little book nooks to explore. I always bring friends and out-of-town visitors here because it just makes people happy. Don’t miss the red button that turns on the train, and definitely leave time for the adorable café and gifts.

While planning my Boston trip, I intentionally mapped out stops around locations featuring the mini surprise art print vending machines by Anastasia Inciardi, which is how I ended up at Beacon Hill Books & Café. Even though the vending machine was empty when I visited, it’s worth noting that these are typically restocked — they’re just very popular, so there’s always a chance they may be empty depending on timing. Each art print costs $1, so it’s a good idea to bring quarters. That was part of my plan, even though I happened to arrive on a day when the machine had already been cleared out. That said, I’m still really glad I went. The bookstore itself is charming and thoughtfully curated, set inside a narrow, historic building filled with books across every genre. Browsing the space felt like an experience in itself. I also picked up a small postcard featuring a custom alphabet illustrated with Beacon Hill imagery, and it’s such a cute little keepsake from the visit. The café looked lovely as well, though it was a busy Saturday and quite full. This is a very popular spot, and because the space is compact, it can feel a bit tight when crowded — but the warmth, charm, and attention to detail make it well worth the stop. Even though I initially visited for the art vending machine, the overall experience made it a worthwhile stop. Highly recommend, especially if you enjoy independent bookstores, charming details, and exploring walkable neighborhoods like Beacon Hill, which is full of great shops, restaurants, and places to wander.

📍Beacon Hill Books and Cafe 📚 - a cozy multi-level apartment turned into a bookstore, it is definitely very insta worthy. It also reminded me why I love Boston so much. FYI - you must make reservations for the cafe on the lower level, even on a random weekday at 3pm, I couldn’t find a seat ☕️ It’s also a super cute rest stop on the Freedom Trail if you need a lil break. ➡️ Boston has all my heart ⬅️ In the bitter cold - there is calm, in the snowy slushy weather - one can find snippets of creativity, like Beacon Hill Books & Cafe
