Tressa Isensee 6 months agoWe had a wonderful time stopping here before an Art class down the street! The coffee was 10/10 and so were our pastries. The atmosphere was so fun, I absolutely love the way they value sustainability. The sweet girl behind the counter was patient with me while I was being indecisive on just which coffee I wanted to try. I would love to get back here for a show!
Espen Dinneen 9 months ago10s across the board!!!! Wow! This place absolutely swept me up off of my feet. I had a lemonade with their seasonal flavor as well as their caramel croissant and.... *mind blown* I dream of this place now. My friend got a lavender oat latte and also thought it was splendid. The person who served us was so kind and gave the best recommendations. I didn't catch their name unfortunately, but the staff here seems so lovely. I haven't been here at night yet, but they do host shows in their show room and double as a bar! They have a tonnn of indoor seating and the view alongside all of the art is such a treat. This place is like if Caffetto was actually clean, not full of teenagers, and had nice POC/LGBTQ friendly employees lol. Such a unique and amazing find. I'll definitely be coming back to see the PILLLAR after dark vibe. There are 2 very spacious and cool looking bathrooms here! Only unfortunate thing is that there is street parking, but it's Minneapolis so what else would you expect. No biggie and I give an A+ for the fact that I didn't have to pay.
Jaron Magstadt 4 months agoI start every morning at PILLLAR, for good reason. The coffee (roasted by the manager), is some of the best in town, the environment is unmatched, and the live music is a blast. Seriously wish six stars was an option.
December Holliday 2 months agoI love Pillar and the coffee here is the best but I have a question. What time do you all stop serving coffee? I came here on a Saturday at around 8:30pm and coffee was no more. It would be very helpful if their website or an update on social media would let us know when coffee is done being served for the day. I live pretty far from here and I know 8pm is late for coffee for most people but that's what I love about Pillar, the only few good places with late night coffee. Last time I came here at night was last summer and I'm not sure if the rules have changed.
Ryan 3 months agoWe went to Pilllar for the first time a couple weeks ago to check it out. We bought a drip coffee, an espresso tonic, and a caramel latte. I also bought a bag of their light roast because they roast the coffee themselves. We were generally disappointed in the quality of the drinks. The espresso tonic was the best of the three. The drip coffee had a weird flavor and I ended up dumping most of it. Maybe we didn't go at a great time. It was later in the day and they had a concert going on. The service was fine. We had very little interaction with the barista. The vibe is definitely a love it or hate it kind of thing. They have a grunge/punk/nu-metal aesthetic, and if that's for you, then awesome. We went late in the day. They were one of the few craft coffee places open. We weren't really prepared for the live music, and we have young kids. There are a few tables in the back where it is a bit quieter, but overall this isn't a place where we're likely to hang out. I waited to write this review because I wanted to have a chance to play with the roasted coffee beans. I can see where some of the weird flavor from the drip coffee came from, assuming they were using the same beans. It's an oaky flavor. Grinding finer definitely improved the results, but I'm not sure this roast profile is right for these beans. I do enjoy a lot of very light roasts, but this is not a coffee I'm interested in returning to.
