James Dobbs 2 months agoA Literal Oasis for Coffee & Book Lovers in Downtown Austin If you find yourself navigating the expansive shelves of BookPeople in downtown Austin, TX, you absolutely have to stop at Coffee People. It isn’t just a convenience stop; it’s a high-quality cafe experience tucked right inside one of the best independent bookstores in the country. The Standout: Unrivaled Latte Flavors The most impressive part of the menu is the sheer variety of latte flavors. While most shops stick to the basics, Coffee People offers a massive list that allows for some seriously creative customization. The Classics & Beyond: They have everything from Macadamia Nut and Pistachio to more unique offerings like Horchata, Caramel Apple Butter, and Toasted Marshmallow. Signature Teas: Their tea lattes are equally curated. The Fredericksburg Cobbler (Peachy Oolong with spiced brown sugar) and the Guilty Dave (Pomegranate Green with vanilla) are must-tries for anyone looking to branch out from coffee. Dietary Friendly: They offer a full range of alternative milks, including Oat, Soy, Coconut, and even Pistachio milk, alongside a solid selection of sugar-free syrups. Food & Snacks The pastry case is dangerous in the best way possible. They source local favorites, including baked goods from Quack’s, Zucchini Kill (perfect for vegan/gluten-free options), and Rockstar Bagels. Whether you want a massive chocolate chip cookie or a savory breakfast taco, they’ve got the fuel you need for a long reading session. Vibe & Atmosphere The atmosphere is quintessentially "Austin"—unpretentious, vibrant, and welcoming. There’s plenty of seating for those looking to get some work done on a laptop or dive into a new book purchase. The staff is fast, friendly, and clearly knows their way around an espresso machine. Pro-Tip: Check the "The Night Shift" if you need a serious caffeine kick—it’s breakfast tea with a double shot of espresso and spiced brown sugar. Verdict: Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is the perfect spot to grab a handcrafted latte and lose yourself in the stacks. Highly recommended!
Aly 6 months agoIncredible cafe! The owner/main bartender is so freaking kind, and she makes an incredible London fog. The lattes are amazing too. They also have an incredible selection of pastries, including vegan pastries. 10/10 amazing cafe, and inside a bookstore!! What more could you want?!
DMCCreativeSolutions 2 months agoThis is the coffee shop you dream about. It has the best coffee, terrific service and it's like someone captured the old Austin vibe in this entire store. But most of all, I have dreams about the coffee from this place. It's fantastic and I highly recommend them! It's a must if you are visiting Austin. I enjoy all of their Latte drinks and they are the nicest people you'll ever meet!
Heather C. 3 years agoMost times I've patronized Coffee People I've encountered employees that are friendly and can be engaged. I find their food and beverage offerings to be very plentiful and delicious. I encourage you to try Too Good To Go with them to have an opportunity to try a good variety of delectables, to find new favorites.
Brenda Dolan a year agoI popped into this cute little spot to pick up a too good to go order. I love bookshops, and a coffee shop in the middle of a book shop is pretty fabulous in my opinion. The gal working couldn’t have been sweeter. I got a variety of goodies, and the ginger cookie didn’t disappoint. The muffins weren’t to my liking, but I’m not a big fan of blueberries in baked goods. My friend who ate them really enjoyed them though.
