Discovered Gloom by accident, and didn’t leave until the bitter end - that is, after enjoying a decaf espresso[1] with notes bitter enough that no one would want to share it with me[2], but flavorful enough that I can’t wait to repeat the experience. ;) The cafe is inviting, bright and airy, punctuated by plant life and ghost illustrations. Not gloomy! Plus, there's merch - stickers, tees, caps, hoodies - if you want to rep those same ghosts. Sip solo at the bar, or bring friends! Gloom’s “Doom" espresso is a delicious way to start the day, strong-yet-gentle. Want a pourover? Check their menu (I sampled one, it rocked). Glad this newcomer cafe is haunting Pioneer Square! Thanks to Alex for the conversation and coffee, and Josh for putting up with me. Credit accepted. Wi-Fi. And a bathroom. Into #pokemongo ? There are two Pokestops you can spin while sitting at the bar. [1] Sometimes you gotta regulate, even in Seattle. [2] Not that anyone would actually share an espresso. Get your own!

Easy 5 stars for this place. The shop itself is super cute, I love the style. The latte with the Nutella syrup is scrumptious. And most importantly the staff was sooooooo friendly. Had one of the baristas ask my name and several questions about my day, and after a day where I felt crummy, this was exactly the pick me up that I needed. Instant favorite and I'm so happy they exist now

Gloom coffee is a breath of fresh air the second you walk in. The bright colors and chill energy and incredible coffee make this a Seattle staple for sure. The people are great and the vibes immaculate. So glad they’re here.
