This place was great! Nice calm atmosphere, and free parking in front before 8am. I got the Mexican Mocha which was nice, and the seasonal fruit and cheese Danish which was flaky and delicious. My mom had the Bliss tea (peppermint, coconut milk, honey and soy) and it was very tasty! She also had the raspberry almond muffin and it had a tasty strudle/crumb crunch on the outside. They have restrooms for customers. The baristas we're so sweet, helpful and friendly! They were great. There are homeless people that come in to get water or get some coffee or a bite to eat, but that's a normal part of downtown life. I like that the staff was equally friendly with everyone. Another quality Temple coffee location! Great coffee, perfect hot chocolate, and pastries. I really enjoy their lattes, and I've gotten coffee beans from them before. The coffee beans make great gifts, and sometimes there are promotions for their swag as well. Always orderly, and the staff are super friendly and patient. I always see the same baristas, and the lack of change says a lot about the work atmosphere here. You can tell when a barista is new, but the staff here have done coffee for years. The inside is typical, sits about 25 comfortably and there are always folks studying, meeting, and enjoying coffee since this is close to many of the Capital buildings. I just like the vibe and I can see why it's popular. The DT area is not the safest, but if you come in the day/afternoon- you'll get great coffee and excellent service. Enjoy!

I normally don’t post reviews but we had such a good experience I needed to! My husband and 2 kids (2 & 4 years old) stopped by for coffee & breakfast while road tripping & staying the night in Sacramento. The baristas were all extremely friendly & the coffee & pastries were super yummy. I went to use the restroom & a barista saw me & came right behind me to happily open the door with her key. Then a bit later my husband went to use the restroom & she saw him & came right behind him to open the door (didn’t even have to ask!). My kids were going a little crazy (toddler energy on a road trip😅) & we didn’t feel judged & always met with smiles which is nice 😂 Plus they happily gave our kids small cups of waters with lids AND on the way out gave my kids a toy. Honestly I was floored at how friendly & a great experience our little coffee break was. Thank you Temple Coffee! Making finding nice coffee shops even with littles a great experience 💕

Temple Coffee in downtown Sacramento is part of a small local chain that started here back in 2005, and it still feels very rooted in the city rather than like something imported and generic. This downtown location on 9th and J is not the original shop, but it’s in the same family of cafés that grew out of Sacramento’s early third-wave coffee scene. The coffee is taken seriously—clean, precise espresso, strong single-origin focus, and a rotating selection that keeps things interesting without tipping into gimmicks. Service is efficient and calm, even when there’s a line, and things move quickly enough that it rarely feels like a long wait. The ordering system is slightly unconventional—you order at the espresso machine and pay after—but it makes sense once you’re in it. The interior is very mid-2010s third-wave aesthetic: concrete, wood, live-edge tables, minimalist and a bit self-conscious in the way a lot of cafés from that era are, but still comfortable and well maintained. There is some outdoor seating, but the immediate area can feel a little rough around the edges, so most people will likely prefer sitting inside or just grabbing and going. If you’re staying downtown, it’s absolutely worth the short walk. It’s a clear step up from hotel lobby coffee, and one of the more reliable espresso stops in the area without feeling pretentious or over-designed.

Temple Coffee Roasters in Sacramento serves some of the best coffee around. Mine had been perfectly roasted and brewed every time I've visited. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a nice spot to unwind or get some work done, and the variety of seating is good alone or larger parties. Parking can be challenging, and it does get busy during peak hours, but the exceptional coffee and welcoming vibe make it worth the effort. A great stop for coffee lovers in Sacramento!
